Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then found many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say early analysis show the fluid was likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the public for information.
An important political figure stated the attack made him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
